There is a huge gap between the box office numbers of last week’s released ‘Airlift’ and ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ after completing first week. Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ is doing wonders at the box office while adult-comedy ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ has failed to impress the audience despite its bold content.
Raja Krishna Menon directorial ‘Airlift’ has maintained its superb pace at the domestic box office and fetched Rs 5 crore. Now its total first week collections remained at Rs 83.50 crore, which is a mind blowing numbers for this non-commercial film. It also becomes Akshay Kumar’s best first week grosser after surpassing ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (2012) which had collected Rs 79.52 crore duringthe same period of time. Now, the film which is based on a true event is rapidly heading towards 100 crore club.
On the other hand, Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Mandana Karimi starrer adult-comedy ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ has failed to get as much response as expected. After week one, it somehow reach to Rs 29.65 crore, which is below par figure for this Ekta Kapoor productions venture. It is now almost done with it and ready to fold up because two new films are releasing today and ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ will surely lose the screens.
Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer ‘Airlift’ is rock steady on 1st Wednesday at the Indian box office. The film has collected Rs 6 crore on Wednesday, thus taking its toll to Rs 78.50 crore after 6 days of its release.
After showing a fantabulous Republic Day, the film has dropped huge as compared to its previous day figures, but then, this was expected as Wednesday was a working day and Rs 6 on any working day is a decent number.
The film is not only holding well at the multiplexes, but it is doing fantastic business in lower centers having single screens. Even some centers have shown repeated audience which is clearly indicating about the love people are giving to this honest effort by Akshay and his team to showcase this true event in front of public.
Now, Akshay is only few crores away to beat his best 1st week grosser ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs 79.52 crore) and by today it will surpass this feat. The real question is now in how many days it will cross the coveted 100 crore mark.
Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer ‘Airlift’ has continued to hit the domestic box office in check on its fifth day. Yesterday, it was republic day and the theme of the film had perfectly matched with this big occasion. People came in huge numbers to watch this film based on true event. The result is that ‘Airlift’ has reached to Rs 72.50 crore just after 5 days of its release.
After seen a fabulous first weekend of Rs 44.30 crore, ‘Airlift’ surprised everyone on Monday and fetched Rs 10.40 crore which is certainly a big number on a weekday. Generally films fail to get double digit collections in weekday.
Yesterday was the perfect day for ‘Airlift’. The base was already set for the film as it was a big National holiday and everyone was pretty sure about the film will do fantastic business. As expected, the numbers after the end of the day shown Rs 17.80 crore which is above par figures expected by the makers.
With Rs 72.50 crore, now ‘Airlift’ is heading towards to become highest first week grosser of any Akshay Kumar film. Till date, Akshay’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (2012) is the biggest first week numbers of Rs 79.52 crore which ‘Airlift’ will surpass by today.
Also now the film is speeding towards 100 crore club and by the end of the second weekend, this mark will be crossed.
India’s first porn-comedy ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ has shown a dull first weekend at the domestic box office. After getting a moderate start, the film has collected Rs 20.15 crore, which is certainly not expected by the makers.
Although, Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Mandana Karimi starrer film is facing really tough competition from Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ which had also released on the same day, still we hope that these kind of films has a certain kind of section who loved these adult-comedies but it failed to attract the audience.
On Friday, it starts with good numbers and collected Rs 8.15 crore on first day but Saturday saw a big drop out and it only got Rs 5.50 crore. Sunday is too disastrous and it only fetched Rs 6.50 crore and somehow it reached to Rs 20.15 crore.
Inspite of poor reviews and negative word of mouth, the makers have faith in audience as in recent past, lots of adult-comedies had done pretty well at the box office including its earlier part ‘Kya Super Cool Hain Hum’ (2011) which become first adult-comedy to enter 100 crore club.
Now, it becomes really difficult task for the film to do well in the week days accordingly and get past its making cost.
The much awaited final numbers of first weekend box office collections of Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer ‘Airlift’ has finally out and as expected the film got roaring response from the domestic audience. The film has collected Rs 44.30 crore on its first weekend, which is very satisfying numbers for the producers.
Although, ‘Airlift’ is not a hardcore commercial entertainer and it only shows the sentiments of 170000 Indians who were evacuated by the Indian Government in the world’s biggest evacuation operation in Kuwait which had been invaded by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain.
The subject which comprises patriotism and love for the country touched the hearts of the people and they are coming in huge numbers to witness these unknown heroics of the Indian authorities and Air India.
On Friday, the film had got moderate start with Rs 12.35 crore but the next day i.e. Saturday showed a decent growth in numbers and it collected Rs 14.60 crore. The biggest gainer for the film is Sunday when it raked Rs 17.35 crore and reached to Rs 44.30 crore. This is also Akshay’s highest first weekend grosser as compared to his last three films including ‘Baby’ (Rs 36.07 crore), ‘Gabbar is Back’ (Rs 40 crore) and ‘Holiday’ (Rs 40.49 crore).
Now, after this mind blowing first weekend, ‘Airlift’ is going towards its first week but fortunately, the film is getting a big booster as Tomorrow is a big holiday i.e. Republic day and all are hoping that this might be the biggest day for the film and it will fetch around Rs 15 to 20 crore and will get past its making cost easily.
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer romantic-drama ‘Dilwale’, which was released on December 18 last year, has continued to storm the overseas markets. Now, it has become 4th all time highest global earners of Bollywood.
With 25.6 million dollars, This Rohit Shetty’s directorial has surpassed Aamir Khan starrer ‘3 Idiots’ which had collected 25.6 million dollars from the overseas market.
Although, ‘Dilwale’ has failed to live up the expectations in India and just finished the lifetime collections of around Rs 150 crores which is far from what expected to this big film.
Now ‘Dilwale’ is only behind ‘PK’ (47.2 million dollars), ‘Dhoom 3’ (31.1 million) and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (29 million dollars).
Yesterday released adult-comedy ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ has got a good start on its opening day at the box office in India. Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Mandana Karimi starrer film has collected Rs 8.15 crore, which is above par figure as it has to take stiff face with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’.
‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ had been promoted as the first porn-comedy film of Bollywood and that’s why it has created lots of buzz among the people to watch this third installment of the hit comedy franchise of Ekta Kapoor.
According to the trade analysts, although it had seen negative reviews by the critics, then also film has shown a good number of footfalls in both big as well as small centers. The reason for this is surely the bold content of the film and there is a separate bunch of people who like these kinds of adult-comedies.
With this kind of moderate start in the shadow of ‘Airlift’, now it will be interesting to see how much it will perform in the coming days and whether it becomes a profitable venture for the producers or not.
Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ has started off pretty well on its opening day at the domestic box office. This film, which is based on a true event, has collected Rs 12.35 crore on Friday that is a very decent start.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, ‘Airlift’ is related to a true story of the biggest evacuation operation done by the Indian Government with the help of Indian Airlines to rescue 170000 Indians from war affected zone of Kuwait in 1990. It also stars Nimrat Kaur in important role.
With the way the film has been promoted by Akshay and his team for the past few months and the positive reviews by critics, it has opened with a good numbers. Although, Friday was a working day but a good number of footfalls had been seen throughout the whole day. The occupancies on day one had been around 50-60% and it will surely on higher side in coming days.
People have so much craze to watch the film and know about the heroics of our government seen in the film. Secondly, Akshay has performed very well and this might be his film best so far. It will definitely get good word of mouth in coming weekend plus Republic day has round the corner which will be the bonus for the film.
If we talk about the predictions of its first weekend, so far the way it has started, the final figure after the opening weekend would be in between Rs 30 – 35 crores which is outstanding for this moderate budget film.
Meanwhile, in UAE and the other Gulf countries, ‘Airlift’ has taken a memorable start and collects approx Rs 1.66 crores which is the highest opening day grosser for any Akshay Kumar film there.
Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Wazir’ had a very good opportunity to do well at the box office as it has full two weeks without any competition to recover its cost of production but it failed to do so and started wrapping up just before the 2nd weekend. On Tuesday and Wednesday, it somehow manages to collect Rs 78 Lakh and Rs 70 Lakh respectively and reached to Rs 38.75 crore.
From overseas too, it is not able to get as expected and just got Rs 18.99 crore. This is certainly not expected from this kind of film which has a big starcast.
Meanwhile, it might be folded by the end of this week as Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ is arriving on this Friday which will surely snatch the maximum screens from ‘Wazir.
After getting passed very long dry month at the box office, finally the most awaited filmi Friday has about to come when a big film is knocking at your doorstep. Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Airlift’ is releasing tomorrow and the film industry is looking forward to this film to do exceptionally well at the box office.
Directed by Kerala born, Raja Krishna Menon, ‘Airlift’ is based on a true event during the invasion of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussain in Kuwait in 1990. During this war, millions of Indians had stuck in the war-zone and need help to get out from this adverse condition. It was Indian Government who had come up and started the biggest evacuation done by any country with the help of Indian Airlines and airlifted around 170000 Indians. This was one of its kinds of achievement done by India which never came into light for the past 25 years.
Now Akshay and his team has come up with this film to intimate the world that India is a proud country which always stands first in any difficulty and come up as saviour.
Produced by Akshay, ‘Airlift’ will release around 3600 screens across Indian and will get close to 800 screens in overseas. The entire budget of the film including the total production cost plus promotion cost is around Rs 85 crore.
With the way, Akshay and Nimrat Kaur, who is the female lead in the film, promoting the film around the country and the quality of the subject which Akshay chose, it will probably open with good occupancies. The most important thing about ‘Airlift’ is that the film is related to the heroics of Indian Government and will feel proud to every India with the patriotism in it.
This is the plus point for the film and the makers are confident that it will fetch in between Rs 10 – 15 crores on its opening day which is a very good numbers for this kind of film. If it will get good start, then Saturday and Sunday will see a good number of footfalls and the film would finish the first weekend around Rs 30 crore.
Although, Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and debutant Mandana Karimi starrer adult-comedy film ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum 3’ is also releasing tomorrow but it might not affect the going of ‘Airlift’ as there is limited bunch of people who like these kinds of adult movies.
