Although, ‘Airlift’ is not a hardcore commercial film, rather than it is niche drama based on the real incident related to the Iraq-Kuwait war, but the lone presence of superstar Akshay Kumar and his finest performance has turned the fortunes of the film. With 100 crore under the belt, this is Akshay’s 4th film to surpassed this mark after ‘Housefull 2’ (2012), ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (2012) and ‘Housefull 2’ (2012). His last year’s released crime-thriller ‘Baby’ (Rs 95 crore) has just short by few crores to get passed 100 crore.

Raja Krishna Menon directorial ‘Airlift’ is still strong at the box office and seen a good number of footfalls after the end of week two. The main reason behind this is the poor show by the other releases of the week. While, R.Madhavan starrer ‘Saala Khadoos’ hasn’t hold good and just managed to collect 2 crores odd (Hindi version) on Sunday and reached to Rs 6 crore in its first weekend, Sunny Leone adult-comedy ‘Mastizaade’ has also seen the expected fallout after a good opening on Friday.

Now, after achieving this milestone, it is interesting to see how far it will go from here and finished its lifetime collections. Still, it has one more week to fetch as more as possible.

Meanwhile, Akshay’s dream run has continued at the box office. After giving 3 back to back hits, all eyes are now on his upcoming films which include ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Rustom’.
